Montgomery Church – comprised of Cielle Montgomery and James Church – released their debut album, In the Shadow of the Mountain, in 2018. The duo from the Snowy Mountains, NSW/Ngarigo country received two Golden Guitar nominations for their exquisite sound, the interplay of dobro and guitar and harmonies.

‘Louise’ is their new single and the first to come from their forthcoming second album, Where the Quiet Can Hide. It’s impossible not to fall in love with this song about a ‘lonesome and loving’ friend who never quite fits in and keeps trying to find her place, and her person. Montgomery’s vocals, subtly harmonised by Church, are full of knowing compassion for the lost soul at the centre of the song. It’s one of those songs you’ll play over and over because you just don’t want to let it go, then it won’t let you go either.

The band has toured widely in their little vintage caravan, Daisy, playing festivals such as Groundwater Country Music Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival and Americana Fest in Nashville. In June they’ll be on tour in New South Wales and Victoria in support of the album. Keep an eye on their website for dates:
