Around three years ago Max Jackson released her debut album, Life of the Party, which was an outstanding collection of country-pop songs, and she has now released a new EP, Out Here. What happened in the interim was that Jackson won the 2022 Toyota Star Maker competition, announced during the delayed Tamworth Country Music Festival in April last year. Since then Jackson has, as the title of her lead single from the EP suggests, runnin’, making the most of the opportunities that have come her way thanks to Star Maker and planning for life beyond it too. When we spoke recently I didn’t even pretend not to be a fangirl, but for good reason: Life of the Party is one of my favourite albums, and it’s been wonderful to see Jackson receive recognition for her skills and talents.
