Henry Wagons is known to many as the host of Tower of Song on Double J and to many others as the head honcho of the band Wagons as well as a solo artist. His latest album is South of Everywhere and it was recently nominated for an ARIA award.

Wagons is also one of the most dynamic live performers anywhere, of any time – never not completely entertaining, regardless of song or venue, small audience or large. When I interviewed him not long before Christmas it was a great opportunity to talk about the art and craft of his performances, and he gave fascinating insight into that as well as his development as a musician and songwriter, and his recent UK tour. There’s also some discussion about tennis because we’re both tennis players – but sport is relevant to music too!

Wagons is playing the Tamworth Country Music Festival with Lachlan Bryan on 25 January 2024 at 2.30 p.m. tickets here. He’s heading back to the UK and Ireland in late February and March. Details on his website. You can watch our chat on YouTube (below), watch a snippet (also below) or listen on the podcast.
