Billie-Jo Porter & Colin Lillie – Camden, NSW
Join us for a summer Sunday with the talented Billie-Jo Porter & Colin Lillie performing live on The Terrace for our “Lazy Sunday Arvo”.
Gypsy soul, Billie-Jo Porter, is pure sunshine. The singer-songwriter’s rootsy sound flirts with Country, Americana and Indie Folk to create music that heals. Like many of her contemporaries, BJP isn’t following the traditional or formulaic path set out by country music’s main stayers, instead opting to remain true to her artistic nature, underpinned with a melodic purity of pop, folk and country lilting eclectic artists before her, such as The Waifs, Frente, and Melody Moko.’ – Album of the Week – ABC Country
Porter possesses a pure country vocal, shining on the album’s inspiring opening track ‘Feels Like Us’. With its well-crafted songs and Porter’s vocals, this album is well worth a listen.’ – Greg Bush – Owner Driver
Colin Lillie is certainly one of a kind. This gypsy Scotsman has found a new life in Alice Springs in the Australian central desert where he has thrived as a songwriter. You don’t have to delve very deep into Colin’s lyrics or the heart of his voice to know his songs are driven by someone who has all of the shades of life experience to lean into. This rang true with his 2017 and 2019 awards for Best Live Voice at the National Live Music Awards.
In 2016 Colin released his debut album “Glass Homes” to critical acclaim and managed to take out the AU Review people’s choice Australian Artist of the Year award. In 2020 he released the Mark Lizotte (DIESEL) produced “Petrichor” EP. August 2021 saw the release “Shades of Love” Colin’s second studio. This was recorded at Wild Mountain Studios with enigmatic producer Jamie Trevaskis (The Wilson Pickers) and together Colin and Jamie found a darker honesty in his performances than on any previous releases.
