From the stages of large festivals to intimate gatherings, Matt Joe Gow has become known for his earnest performances and authentic Alt country tones. Hailing from the deep south of New Zealand, he brings a rich musical background and a lifetime of influences to the stage.
Having shared stages with the likes of Chris Isaak, Justin Townes Earle, The Jayhawks, and more, Matt Joe Gow has carved a niche in the Alternative Country scene. His debut record, “The Messenger,” produced by multi-Aria award-winner Nash Chambers, set the stage for a musical journey that would see him winning the Music Victoria Award for Best Country Album.
In 2018, Matt released the ambitious “Break, Rattle and Roll,” a self-produced Americana record that further solidified his place in the Australian independent Country music scene. His album, “Between Tonight & Tomorrow,” took a stripped-back approach and garnered critical acclaim, charting on the ARIA and Australian Independent Release charts, and winning the 2023 Music Victoria Award for Best Country Album along with an NZ Country Music Award.
