It has been a decade since Tasmanian singer-songwriter Van Walker has released music under his own name, although he released six albums between 2008 and 2010 so perhaps he was due a break (although since 2010 he has toured nationally and internationally, writing and releasing two albums with the power pop outfit The Livingstone Daisies, recorded Heartbrokers VOL.10 with Jeff Lang, Ezra Lee and Ash Davies, formed the three piece blues-boogie outfit Goatpiss Gasoline and also written and performed as a member of the critically acclaimed Vandemonian Lags stage production).
Walker has announced a new album, Ghosting, to be released in August 2020 and released the first single, the evocative ‘Spirit World’, which has two B sides, ‘Crystal Ball’ and ‘I Gotta Worry’. ‘Spirit World’ is a story of lost love and paths not taken. Walker’s lyrics are vulnerable and affecting, sprawling over the interplay of guitars, bringing us into his head and heart.
