Last year Melanie Dyer released a short, upbeat song called ‘Run Out of Road’ which proved a tonic during some dark lockdown days in certain Australian states. Its effectiveness wasn’t so much in the lyrics – although there was certain appeal in the idea of hitting the road when some of us couldn’t travel more than 5 kilometres from home – as the whole package of this track that is pretty much a perfect country-pop song. Dyer released her debut album, Fresh, in 2017 and the hit single ‘Memphis T-shirt’ in late 2019. Her latest single is ‘Cheap Moscato’ and we spoke about that, and other things, recently.
