If proof were needed of Melbourne/Naarm singer-songwriter Courtney Keil’s songwriting prowess, look no further than her listing as a finalise in the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition for her debut single, ‘I Just Wanna Hold You’. A more recent single, ‘Hummingbird’, found new fans on TikTok and Keil has now released ‘The One’ ahead of a jam-packed year of performances. We caught up recently and I discovered, amongst other things, that Keil singing the national anthem at a motorsports event was no coincidence … Apologies in advance for scratchy sound on my end.
