Sydney singer-songwriter Blake Dantier has released a variety of singles over the past year and a bit, starting with ‘Ash & Dust’ in April 2020. Dantier wrote that song after the death of a friend; subsequent singles had lighter subject matter but were no less deftly handled. Those singles appear on Dantier’s debut album, Dry Season, along with other songs that show Dantier’s ability to layer songs with meaning, offering the listener the opportunity to listen for entertainment or dive more deeply into what’s there, or both. We spoke recently about the creation of this album and what it’s been like releasing music throughout the most challenging time for musicians.
