In early March 2020 Sydney artist Cass Hopetoun released her debut single ‘Shots’, a song with a chorus that talks about no one doing shots any more. Less than a week later, no one in the world was doing much of anything as we all locked down. Throughout the next few months, though, Hopetoun persevered, releasing singles that offered light amongst the heaviness that was all around. One of them, ‘Who Needs Hawaii’, garnered her a 2022 Golden Guitar nomination for Best New Talent, and in April this year Hopetoun released her debut album, Not Your Typical Bride, which contains her singles and other tracks that, combined, offer a diverse range of stories, emotions and musical moods.
