Steve Lane is an artist from Central Victoria whose fourth album, The Great Imposter, will be released in November. He has thrice beennominated for the International Songwriting Award and his 2011 album The Romance of Communication, was nominated for the prestigious Australian Music Prize. Lane is also one half of Realtone, with Wayne Glenn. Both are experienced sound engineers, award-winning song writers, workshop facilitators and video producers.
The latest single from The Great Imposter is the charming, mesmerising ‘Don’t Forget to Breathe’, which has country tones amongst its gentle folk-rockness. The song is a gentle encouragement to the listener to not be too hard on themselves, to remember that ‘all that is … will be’. It’s a message that is especially pertinent now but will be relevant always, as every life has its troughs right along with its peaks.
The video is having its premiere here today, and you can see it below. Visually it is a sort of lullaby, as its transitions roll us along with the song’s pace and encouraging us to stop and watch, just as the song encourages us to stop and listen.
