The last time I spoke to Queensland artist Briana Dinsdale she had found out she was the recipient of the Keith Urban Scholarship to the Academy of Country Music in Tamworth, NSW. Dinsdale is not only a great performer but a songwriter with a particular – and interesting – slant on the world, which means her songs always offer something unexpected and wonderful. Sometimes it’s a bit of sass, sometimes it’s a story that doesn’t head where you think it will. And Hinsdale’s latest single, ‘Chasing Boys’, has both of those qualities in spades.
We caught up recently to talk about ‘Chasing Boys’ as well as Dinsdale’s time at the Academy earlier this year – and ended it discussing the Harry Styles concert she was about to attend, so there’s a little bit of Harry content in this interview and it was, as it was the last time we spoke, great to talk to her.
