When Parkes, NSW singer-songwriter Raechel Whitchurch released her first new single since her Golden Guitar-nominated debut album Finally Clear, its title came as surprise. That’s because it’s called ‘I’m Not Cool’, and anyone who is even a casual observer of Whitchurch’s work and life would disagree with that assessment.
Whitchurch grew up as a performing musician in a family band, then, after starting her own family, started releasing music as a solo artist. The result was the wonderful Finally Clear. This was done while running the booking agency Sure Thing and touring even while about to give birth. We talked about all of that recently and, as with the first time I interviewed Whitchurch, there was a lot to talk about. That’s because Whitchurch’s life is as rich, and cool, as her music.
