Two Tone Pony formed in 2018 with five members who all have extensive musical experience, and they started gigging in 2021. Last year they went into the studio to record some songs with producer Rod McCormack and now their first single, ‘A Life Well Lived’, has been released.

David Kirkpatrick is a founding member of the band, but it is far from being his first foray into music: as the song of Slim Dusty and Joy McKean, Kirkpatrick grew up on the road, learning what it takes to not just create meaningful, entertaining songs but bring them to people. Quite apart from that he’s led – and leads – a fascinating life, so it was a great pleasure to talk to him about that, and about how Two Tone Pony came to be and the music they’re making. It’s a long chat but worth the time because Kirkpatrick has so many great stories to share. You can watch our chat on YouTube, or listen in Soundcloud or on the podcast.
