North Queensland artist Josie released her debut single, ‘Down Here’, earlier this year and it’s had over 140 000 streams already. Her latest single is ‘Freight Man’, which she wrote with multiple Golden Guitar winner Travis Collins. The song is a tribute to her truck-driving father, and it was recorded with producers MSquared.

‘”Freight Man” struck a chord with them, they knew it had to be one of the songs we recorded,’ says Josie. ‘The vocal recording for this song was way different to “Down Here”, I sang through the entire song top to bottom three times, and that was it. This song’s performance just came so naturally filled with passion and emotion, which made the recording process for this one so easy.’

During our recent chat Josie talked about the song as well as the significant health challenges she has had to manage in order to pursue her music dreams. She was a delight to talk to, as she was the first time I interviewed her. You can watch our chat on YouTube (below), or listen in Soundcloud (below) or on the podcast.
