Darlinghurst is a Golden Guitar Award-winning act from Melbourne. Originally a four piece, it was announced in December 2023 that they were moving forward into 2024 as a duo comprising original members Cassie Leopold and Pagan Newman, and they have a great new single, ‘Unapologetic’.
‘”Unapologetic”’s message is this – by all means, listen to other people’s opinions, but don’t disregard your own. Don’t be afraid to disappoint if you don’t meet others’ expectations,’ Leopold has said of the track. ‘Unapologetically know your own worth; fight for it if you must. Success comes in the lonely hours, and it can be awfully lonely when it feels like it’s you alone against the world, but sometimes you just have to trust your gut and jump.’
I spoke to Newman about the song, and about her longstanding friendship and collaboration with Leopold, plus their upcoming shows at the 2024 Tamworth Country Music Festival (listed below).
