In this latest playlist – capturing the past fortnight’s Australian country music releases – Queenslander Bud Rokesky continues his project of releasing two songs a month and the latest pair are just as strong as previous releases. When we spoke earlier this year Rokesky said that while he had plans for what to record and release, there was also room for new songs, so he was going to follow his instinct about what to release when. Well, it’s clear that those instincts are working beautifully.
The bigger project of Tamworth local Ashleigh Dallas is documenting life with all its shades, from a place of pure heart and empathy, and she has done that again with new single ‘Love Still Has Something’. There’s also another country-pop hit from Loren Ryan, ‘HOEDOWN’, and a power pairing in ‘Who I Am’ from Lee Kernaghan and James Johnston. Speaking of power: Robbie Mortimer has a new song, ‘You Got That Love’, and Lucy Parle impresses with new song ‘Best of Me’. And the internationally touring Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes have released a new track, ‘The Continuing Saga’, which will tide over fans who still have their 2021 LP As Long as It’s Not Us on repeat …
There are many other great tracks in this playlist – too many to single out – so you’ll just have to listen to the whole thing then hit repeat, often. Full track list after the Spotify player. You can also find this playlist on YouTube.
