When Sara Berki released her debut single, ‘Fallin’ Off the Heartline’, it was clear she was an artist with great songwriting talent and the voice to deliver those songs in an unforgettable way. Since then she’s been on impressive journey which has now led to her signing with Warner Music Australia and releasing ‘twice’, her first single with that label, as well as announcing a tour in 2025.

‘Fallin’ Off the Heartline’: A Breakout Moment

Berki’s debut single, ‘Fallin’ Off the Heartline’, was a standout track that announced her arrival as a formidable artist. The combination of her songwriting and performance clearly resonated with listeners, and since then she’s released several other successful singles, leading to an impressive four million streams across her various releases. As Berki reflected on the song in our recent interview, it was clear that it holds a special place in her heart.

‘Every time that I play “Fallin’ Off the Heartline”, it feels like the first time that I got to play it live. It’s my favourite song that I’ve ever written,’ she shares.

Recording Company Signing: A Game-Changer

After making a name for herself as an independent artist, Berki has now taken the exciting step of signing with Warner Music Australia. This partnership, she explains, opens up a world of new opportunities.

‘It really is going to help just push my career from the get-go,’ she explains. ‘I knew with Warner that they felt like a family, and it’s just really special. It’s a lot of doors that I can’t open myself, and luckily, Warner is willing to guide and support and grow with me.’

Expanding Horizons: Dreaming of the US

With this new chapter, Berki is looking to expand her musical reach beyond the Australian shores. ‘I would love to break into the US, that’s like always been a dream of mine since starting in the country genre. That would be a dream,’ she says.

Accolades and Achievements

Not only has she been racking up the streaming numbers, but Berki also recently won the 2024 APRA Professional Development Award for Country, which has opened up new opportunities for her.

‘It allowed me to work with so many other incredible writers, and I was able to purchase my dream guitar – a Gibson SJ200,’ she shares.

Embracing Collaboration and Evolving Sound

While Berki has traditionally been a solo writer, she has recently embraced the collaborative process, working with new producers and songwriters. This has led to the evolution of her sound, as evidenced in her latest single, ‘twice’.

‘I wanted to try something new,’ she explains. ‘It’s quite different to what I’ve done before, but it’s such a fun, catchy, just-don’t-care kind of song.’

The Festival Experience

In between releasing songs, and helping to grow her audience, Berki has been been busy playing festivals, with appearances at CMC Rocks, Perth Muster, Ridin’ Hearts and Groundwater. Her ability to make cover songs her own, as demonstrated by her viral renditions of ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ and ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’, showcases her versatility and connection with the audience.

Looking Ahead: More Music on the Horizon

The new single ‘twice’ is just the start of Berki’s new phase. ‘There definitely are more songs,’ she says, and she’s also announced tour dates for early 2025. It’s not always the case that great talent is rewarded with attention and accolades, so it’s heartening to see Berki taking these steps towards bigger audiences – and, more than anything, new songs. Her songs have been how she shows us who she is, and how she lets us into her world, and no doubt it’s the songs that will create new and bigger opportunities for her as time goes on.
