Matt Joe Gow and Kerryn Fields are compatriots from Aotearoa New Zealand who both live in Melbourne. As individuals they have both released albums, Joe Gow with his fourth album, Between Tonight & Tomorrow released earlier this year, Fields with her second album, Water, in 2021. Now they are collaborators, releasing the single ‘Your Heart of Gold’ earlier this year and with a new single, ‘Love Ya Like I Can’, and an accompanying tour (dates below).

For two strong individual performers with their own interests and identities, a flowing, fruitful collaboration isn’t a foregone conclusion. In this interview Joe Gow and Fields not only talk about but demonstrate why theirs works, not as a sum that is greater than its parts but a different entity that is at once formed yet shifting. Their first two releases – so different to each other yet complementary – indicate that whatever they shift to next, it will be inherently worth listening to.
