Some artists just have a way with words and melodies, right from the start, and when they also have the talent to deliver those words and melodies in a form that makes them irresistible to listen to, they rapidly become favourites. Central Coast, NSW/Darkinjung country singer-songwriter Ella Powell has released some very, very good singles, including ‘Somebody’ and ‘Paper Town’, and her latest single, ‘Side Effects’, is further proof that she is rapidly establishing herself as a country-pop name to watch. When we spoke recently it was clear that Powell is a thoughtful artist whose love for and dedication to music is a fundamental part of who she is.
